SPEC OPS MOBILIZES WITH NATIONAL GUARD FOR WILDFIRES IN CALIFORNIA
Spec Ops Equips National Guard Bureau Public Affairs Rapid Response Team

October 25, 2007

RICHMOND, VA – Spec Ops, Inc. announced today that it mobilized with the National Guard Bureau Public Affairs Rapid Response Team (PARRT) in Arlington, VA to provide the command and control equipment used in the California National Guard Joint Information Center (JIC).  With less than 24 hours notice, Spec Ops delivered PARRT equipment from its facility in Richmond, VA for onsite operations at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA. Spec Ops was also notified that its personnel may be required onsite for at least two weeks to assist the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the California National Guard with its command and control requirements during emergency operations.

Recently, Spec Ops was awarded a contract to provide the NGB with a suite of command and control hardware that would form the backbone of the Joint Enabling Team (JET) PARRT response to a disaster.  The Spec Ops equipment utilized by the PARRT in California includes several plasma and projector based Rapid Tactical Operations Centers (RTOC), Video Distribution Units (VDU), fully integrated Tactical Tables, four satellite receivers, full internet connectivity, multimedia and telephone connections. Due to the real world emergencies currently threatening California, manufacturing and delivery of NGB PARRT equipment was accelerated by 30 days to meet the immediate deployment demands of the NGB.

“Spec Ops has a history of supporting real world emergencies such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and now the wildfires in California,” stated Paul Garner, President of Spec Ops.  “One of our first missions was to construct the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force’s Combat Operations Center onsite at Camp Pendleton prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Spec Ops was then and is now a very agile small company that can respond in near-real time to support emergencies throughout the U.S. and internationally.”

Earlier this year, Spec Ops successfully supported the National Guard Bureau during Operation Vigilant Guard at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center near Butlerville, Indiana.  More than 2,000 National Guard personnel took part in Operation Vigilant Guard, an 11-day exercise that tested the National Guard as the first military responder in support of the governor and the state emergency management agencies after a simulated detonation of a 10-kiloton nuclear device.  During the exercise, Spec Ops provided a similar suite of Tactical Operation Center (TOC) equipment that is currently being utilized by the PARRT in California.

“We are honored to be able to support the National Guard Bureau and the California National Guard during times of emergency like the wildfires in California,” noted Gil Sylvia, Director of Homeland Security Programs. “Many of our employees are prior military or national guardsmen and they can identify with the urgency of the situation in California.”
